DIANE Keaton has truly out-Diane
Keatoned herself with an eye-catching appearance on the cover of Vanity
Fair, joining twelve of Hollywood’s top actresses.
The
stunning fold-out cover shot features a mix of Hollywood talents of
varying ages: Helen Mirren, Charlotte Rampling, Brie Larson and Jane
Fonda among them. All are immaculately coifed and dressed, for the most part, in dramatic full-length ball gowns.
All, that is, for Keaton.

She’s the only subject to deliver a full smile to the camera, too.
Among the sea of tulle and pouting captured by photographer Annie Leibovitz, it’s impossible to take your eyes off the 70-year-old star of Annie Hall, The First Wives Club and many more classics.

“According to fashion and style director Jessica Diehl, Keaton’s choice to wear her own ensemble was two parts her singular brand of Keaton spunkiness, and one part her collaborative spirit.
“When Keaton arrived — chipper and ready for her close-up at 7:45 A.M., in her Harnden morning coat, leggings, and studded engineering boots — she began looking through the natty, menswear-inspired pieces [fashion director Jessica] Diehl and her team had pulled. “And she’s like, ‘Oh, I love this, I love this,’ and then Annie said, ‘Yeah, I love that too, but you kind of already look great!’”
And with that, an iconic cover shot was born.
